The Harvard Hutchins Center is one of many historical cultural treasures in America.
October 6, 2016 Pam Grier, Ph.D, super soul shero was honored for her legacy of film. Eartha Kitt paved the way as Cat Woman in the Bat Man series. Wonder Woman came later with Lynda Carter.
Pam Grier made the library clerk to the disco dancer proud that she existed when she came on the scene in the 70's. Later movies of note were Something Wicked This Way Comes, and Jackie Brown, although she's still in motion on the edge of the new wave.
She starred in movie after movie cementing her place in Hollywood as a go to actress when self assurance, and action was the featured role in demand.
Every ethnicity was crazy in love with her, and she seemed as if she ran the world. She's still acting, and cares for animals.
Professor Henry Louis Gates interviewed with the Harvard Gazzette about the blackxploitation era, and the gritty regal actress that emanated from the genre.
MC Lyte was honored as well. She had a significant male fan base. Now an administrator. She was one of the smoothest female rappers along with Queen Latifah, Stetsasonic, Salt & Pepper Spinderella), and TLC.
